A QR code visiting card is a printed (or on-screen) QR that opens your digital visiting card. The customer points their camera, the page loads, and they can call, WhatsApp, view the menu, pay UPI, or leave a Google review. It is the physical half of an online visiting card.
Why QR beats NFC for most Indian shops
NFC visiting cards need a chip in a plastic card and a phone that is ready to tap. QR codes work on every smartphone camera, including budget Androids. You can print a QR on paper, sunboard, a bill, or a food box for a few rupees. Start with QR. Add NFC later only if you sell a premium tap card as a product.
What the QR should open
Do not point the QR at a JPEG of your paper card. Point it at the live page so you can change prices tomorrow without reprinting. BestDigitalCard gives each published card a stable URL and QR for that URL.
- Restaurants: open the digital menu.
- Clinics: open services + review button.
- Retail: open catalogue + UPI.
Where to print a QR visiting card
| Place | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Table standee | Guest is seated and has the phone out |
| Billing counter | Natural pause while they wait for the bill |
| Printed bill | Best moment to ask for a Google review |
| Packaging / parcel | Cloud kitchen and D2C re-orders |
| Shop shutter / flex | People walking past after hours |
| WhatsApp status | Zero print cost, daily reach |
Design rules that actually get scans
- Keep quiet space around the QR. Do not crop it into a logo.
- Write one line of human text: "Scan for menu" or "Scan to pay / WhatsApp".
- Test with an older Android camera, not only your iPhone.
- If you brand the QR with a logo in the centre, keep it small so the code still reads.
- Do not laminate with a high-gloss film that reflects tube lights into the camera.
Tracking
A printed card cannot tell you it was picked up. A QR visiting card can. BestDigitalCard records views and button taps so you see whether the table QR is actually used, or only the Instagram link.
Common mistakes
- Linking the QR to a Google Drive PDF that nobody can zoom on mobile.
- Printing 2,000 copies before the WhatsApp number is verified.
- Using a URL shortener that expires. Use the card's own slug.
- Forgetting to publish the card, so the QR hits a 404.
FAQs
Open your full digital visiting card, not a static PDF. That way the scan can call, WhatsApp, pay UPI, open the menu or leave a Google review.
Table standees, the billing counter, packaging, visiting-card size printouts, invoices and your shop shutter or flex.
No. Phone cameras on Android and iPhone read QR codes. WhatsApp also has a built-in scanner.
